Our Chapter

The Pomona Valley Chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild is a group of Piano Technicians and enthusiasts dedicated to the proper care and service of pianos. Located in the "Inland Empire" of Southern California, the chapter's primary focus is providing information to members about piano technology. We do this mostly through monthly meetings, annual conventions, conferences and one-on-one sharing of technical skills and knowledge.

The About Us page provides a brief history of our chapter including past chapter luminaries, a chapter member roster, as well as a list of current chapter board members. And the Find A Technician page provides a quick and convenient way of locating a Registered Piano Technician member of our chapter.

We encourage anyone interested in pianos and piano technology to browse this web site. Be sure to check the Piano Technology page for useful information about pianos.

The Guild

The Piano Technicians Guild, the official organization of the Registered Piano Technician, is the world's premiere source of expertise in piano service and technology. Based in Kansas City, KS, the PTG has over 4100 members throughout the United States, Canada and around the world.

The mission of the Piano Technicians Guild is to promote the highest possible standards of piano service by providing members with opportunities for professional development, by recognizing technical competence through examinations and by advancing the interests of its members.

The Piano Technicians Guild (PTG) is a trade association with membership open to anyone with a professional or avocational interest in piano technology. However, the title of Registered Piano Technician must be earned by passing a series of rigorous examinations. PTG members who have not passed the RPT examinations may avail themselves of PTG's extensive educational offerings in preparation for their taking the RPT exams, and may advertise their PTG memberships.

Chapter Meetings

  • Date: Monday(1st Mon), May 7, 2012
  • Time: 6:00pm (board), 7:30pm (chap)
  • Location: Kim's Piano
18605 E. Gale, City of Industry, CA 91748
    (626) 964-0800

Program: Last month we talked about sharing a meeting with the Los Angeles Chapter in late May. However, the date for the LA event was changed to Thursday, May 31. Please look at the LA Chapter newsletter page for details. We strongly encourage all members to attend if they are able! We have some unavoidably time-sensitive chapter business that we must attend to before that, so the board elected to once again have our own meeting earlier in May. As you may note, the 7th is the first Monday of the month. This is a one-time exception to our customary meeting date. Please note this in your calendar! Our June meeting will be back on the 2nd Monday of the month which is June 11th.

For our May 7th meeting, we have Ed Whitting, RPT coming to share his seemingly endless supply of knowledge with his presentation of "10 New Ways to do 10 Old Problems." Ed is a very engaging speaker and is excited to be sharing his time with us this month. If you know a piano technician who is not a member of PTG, this would be a good meeting to "invite-a-technician" so they can see what they are missing! There will be lots to see and lots to learn!
