Our Chapter

The Pomona Valley Chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild is a group of Piano Technicians and enthusiasts dedicated to the proper care and service of pianos. Located in the "Inland Empire" of Southern California, the chapter's primary focus is providing information to members about piano technology. We do this mostly through monthly meetings, annual seminars and conferences and one-on-one sharing of technical skills and knowledge.

We encourage anyone interested in pianos and piano technology to browse this web site. Be sure to check the Piano Technology link for useful information about pianos.

The Guild

The Piano Technicians Guild, the official organization of the Registered Piano Technician, is the world's premiere source of expertise in piano service and technology. Based in Kansas City, KS, the PTG has over 4100 members throughout the United States, Canada and around the world.

The mission of the Piano Technicians Guild is to promote the highest possible standards of piano service by providing members with opportunities for professional development, by recognizing technical competence through examinations and by advancing the interests of its members.

The Piano Technicians Guild (PTG) is a trade association with membership open to anyone with a professional or avocational interest in piano technology. However, the title of Registered Piano Technician must be earned by passing a series of rigorous examinations. PTG members who have not passed the RPT examinations may avail themselves of PTG's extensive educational offerings in preparation for their taking the RPT exams, and may advertise their PTG memberships.

Chapter Meetings

  • Date: Monday - June 9th, 2008
  • Time: 7:30pm
  • Location: Pam Consoli's house
  • Tech Program:Please note: Our meeting place has been changed. For personal reasons, Kathy and John Gilkey have withdrawn from active participation in our chapter, the 2009 Cal State Conference, and have asked us to find another place in which to meet. For this month, we will be meeting in the home of Pam Consoli (see map below).

  • The convention committee will be meeting with the state board before our meeting and will have a report for you; and yes, our chapter will still be hosting the 2009 state conference. Ron Kneale and Pam Consoli will be representing our chapter at national council in Anaheim next month, so we will be discussing the bylaws proposals with all of you. Please take the time to go over these proposals (Supplement to the May Journal) so you can give us an informed opinion. Due to all the extra stuff going on this month, we will forego our regular technical program in favor of an expanded "tech tips," so bring questions or technical wonders to share.

  • And sadly (for us), Mary Dahm, our secretary/treasurer for the past 17 years, is retiring. This will likely be her last meeting, so please come to help us give a special sendoff to a very special lady.

  • Bill Shull, our Nominating Committee Chairman, reports that “The Nominating Committee has made good progress working for just under a month. We appreciate the willingness of those we have asked to serve. An e-mail will be sent with our recommendations for your consideration.
